What is ICON?ICON The Illustration Conference brings together top illustrators, designers, educators, representatives, and art buyers to explore the past, present, and future of illustration. Since 1999, we have produced conferences in Santa Fe, Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Providence, Portland, Austin, Detroit, and Kansas City.

ICON is committed to providing a diverse forum for an ongoing dialogue that serves the illustration, design, publishing, advertising, and academic communities.


ICON12 is in Minneapolis, a vibrant city known for its thriving arts scene, stunning architecture, and rich cultural heritage.

Take a stroll down the iconic Stone Arch Bridge, indulge in the famous Juicy Lucy burgers, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the famous music hub, First Avenue—where we’ll also be dancing the night away at our closing party.

Venues include The Minneapolis Institute of Art (Prisms, Workshops, Mainstage), The Lumber Exchange (Roadshow + Motion Commotion), Chambers Gallery (Gallery Show), and First Avenue (Closing Party).

TRAVEL INFORMATION
Minneapolis is a major metropolitan area with a large airport, making it easy to access. If you’re flying, Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is about 12 miles from Minneapolis.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
You can catch the Light Rail (the METRO) from the airport and take it downtown. Ride the METRO Blue Line to the Warehouse District/Hennepin Ave (about 25 minutes). Exit and walk about 550 feet until you see the AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown.
